Hand-drawn resistors and a simple tester that uses a light-emitting diode |
PURPOSE: This resistor and tester are easy to make. It helps students to understand about combined resistance. |
TARGET: Junior high school students |
CATEGORY: Physics, Monozukuri (Science Craft) |
MATERIAL: [Hand drawn resistors] thick paper pencil (6B) |
[Testers] aluminum tape lithium battery cell (CR2032) red LED (OptoSupply OSHR5111A) aluminum tape bulldog clips (plastic) kent paper |
USAGE: The effect of resistance can be seen as the light level of LED. Several patterns can be written on the paper using 6B pencil. (cf.Fig.1,2) Compare the resistance by using the tester. When long lines and thin lines are written, LED will be darker. Thick lines and short lines make LED light brighter. Also, several lines make LED brighter. |
RESULTS: Typical results are presented in Fig.3. |
